Five Part Series

January 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, February 6th
(Five Tuesday Nights)

At the start of every new year, we make New Year’s resolutions to be happier, more organized, live a better life and then….. What happens?

The Five Poisons

“For all sentient beings, and especially for us as practitioners, the most dangerous enemies are own Five Poisons. If we do not free ourselves from these poisons, we cannot achieve enlightenment” – Latri Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche

The Five Poisons are a central cause of suffering in our daily lives. They are our negative emotional reactions to a particular situation. We may react to a situation with aversion, attachment, envy, pride, or other negative emotions, directing these negative emotions at the people we believe are responsible for the problem. But if we look inside, we realize that the Five Poisons are our own emotions. The other person, the one who we think “causes” us to have the negative emotion, may be unaware or unconcerned by our emotions.

The Five Poisons ultimately hurts us more than they hurt the other person. The arising of the Five Poisons is always harmful to us. For these reasons we want to remove our Five Poisons as much as we can.

Yungdrung Bön focuses on learning how to remove the Five Poisons and to replace the poisons with antidotes and wisdom. Modern science has shown how our mental and physical health improves drastically when we recognize, reduce or eliminate our Five Poisons – Promoting mental and physical healing and balance. We are calmer. We create a healthier lifestyle, strong relationships and family Bönds.

We cannot heal ourselves, or heal someone else, if we cannot control our own Five Poisons.

For five weeks, Latri Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche will show us how important it is for us to recognize how controlling and destructive the Five Poisons are within our daily lives. He will help us learn how to reduce and/or eliminate our Five Poisons.

We will learn to realize the Five Poisons within ourselves, and how much they are harming our lives. We must connect with them, see when they arise. Then we must dedicate ourselves to control, reduce and eliminate the Five Poisons. This is a process that will take our whole lives to complete.

SO, WHY NOT MAKE A NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION TO START REDUCING OR ELIMINATING YOUR FIVE POISONS?

Starting January 6th, 2018 every Tuesday, for five weeks, Latri Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche will teach us to acknowledge when one or more of our Five Poisons are arising. How to recognize, reduce and eliminate the arising Five Poisons.

This series is open to everyone, you can participate in person or via Live Stream. The replay of each of our series will be set at 9:00 p.m. central time. You will be able to be a part of this series later during the evening or until the Thursday after the Tuesday course.

At the end of the five weeks series, all of the five weeks will be set in a digital format and sent to everyone registered.

Schedule:

Each Tuesday, of the five weeks, will include Latri Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche teaching one of the Five Poisons and a meditation session.

January 9th, 2018 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Central Time

Ignorance: Ignorance is the basic and the worst of the Five Poisons. Ignorance means that we are grasping, and we don’t even know that we are grasping.

January 16th, 2018 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Central Time

Anger: (Aversion, hatred, anger, and other similar words): Aversion means we are grasping something and pushing it away from us.

January 23, 2018 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Central Time

Attachment: (Attachment, greed, desire, and other similar words): Attachment means we are grasping something and pulling it towards us.

January 30th, 2018 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Central Time

Pride: (Pride, conceit, and other similar words): Pride means we are too full of ourselves, puffed up, grasping at our own inflated sense of self-worth. We consider ourselves high up, and look down at others as being below us.

February 6th, 2018 7:00 -9:00 p.m. Central Time

Envy: (Envy, jealousy, and other similar words): Envy means we are too narrow and constricted inside, have a lack of space inside, and are grasping at a negative view of ourselves. We consider ourselves low, and look up at others as higher than us, because we are constricted and we think they have something we want.
