Lubrac, Nepal

Hello to all supporters of the Bon Children’s Home, students of Latri Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche and Bon practitioners.

We’ve written many times about the love and devotion the BCH students have for Latri Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche. I was privileged to see a great example of this last night.

We are currently staying in the Bon Guest House in Lubrac, Lower Mustang, Nepal.  This is a village of just over 100 people. Rinpoche had just finished a day of teaching up at the Gom Puk shrine, a 30 minute walk up a fairly steep mountain trail.  This is a shrine on top of a local peak attached to a cave, where Yangton Tashi Gyaltsen meditated and attained rainbow body.

We returned in the rain, slipping in the mud as we walked.

When we arrived, we found a group of 11 young men and women (plus a baby), former BCH students, who had come from the neighboring village of Chuksam to visit Rinpoche. They had come by jeep, a one-hour drive over bad roads, through the rain and mud. To get to Lubra, they had to cross the river on foot because the river had risen and the bridge was removed.

They talked with Rinpoche for over an hour. They told him about what they are doing in their lives. One of the girls has a government job. The boys are helping with their family businesses. They are all doing well. Rinpoche asked them for their true feelings about their time in BCH, and they all responded that they loved their time there.

It was dark when they set out on foot again on a muddy path to cross the river and take the jeep back to their village.  All of the Yeru Pilgrimage group who met these young men and women were impressed with them and their continued devotion to Rinpoche. This is yet another moving example of the success of the BCH in improving the lives of Bon children from the Himalayan region.

Once again, I’d like to thank all of you who have contributed to the BCH and have helped make success stories like these possible for the wonderful children of BCH. To see the results of our efforts first-hand is truly awe-inspiring.
