Gratitude Tenshug Organizing Committee

To all of our worldwide Yungdrung Bön centers and practice groups:

The Gratitude Tenshug Organizing Committee, which is led by His Eminence Menri Lopon Thrinley Nyima Rinpoche and His Eminence Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche, would like to announce a Long Life Mandala Offering for the Two Great Masters of the Yungdrung Bön, the Crown Ornament of the Teachings of the Yungdrung Bön, His Holiness 33rd Menri Tridzin Lungtok Tenpa’i Nyima Rinpoche, and the Treasure Holder of the Teachings of Yungdrung Bön, His Eminence Menri Yongdzin, Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche.

We invite the worldwide followers of Yungdrung Bön to join us for this special occasion and unique opportunity to express our gratitude and devotion to these two great and precious masters for their inexhaustible kindness and tireless noble activity for the benefit of all sentient beings.

On April 8, 2016 there will be a Long Life Mandala Offering to His Holiness 33rd Menri Tridzin Lungtok Tenpa’i Nyima Rinpoche at Menri Monastery, the seat of the Yungdrung Bön in India.  On April 21, 2016 there will be a Long Life Mandala Offering to His Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche at Triten Norbutse Monastery, the seat of the Yungdrung Bön in Nepal.  Both events will also include additional days of rituals, initiations, cultural performances and traditional food.  We hope that as many people as possible will be able to attend.

Due to events of the past, many of the Tibetan traditions were threatened.  However, due to the great kindness and countless noble activities of these two great masters, the authentic condition of the Yungdrung Bön remained strong and continued to thrive for future generations.  They established centers of formal study and practice in both India as Menri Monastery, and in Nepal as Triten Norbutse Monastery.  Additionally, they founded the Bön Children’s Home and the Bön Children’s Welfare Center.  His Holiness Menri Tridzin Rinpoche is the embodiment of Nyammé Sherap Gyaltsen, and His Eminence Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche is the embodiment of Lachen Drenpa Namkha.  Both of these kind masters have spread the teachings throughout the world in both the East and the West. Because of their compassionate efforts, we Bön followers around the world have the opportunity to practice and benefit from this ancient wisdom.

At this time, they are both healthy and strong, and continue to work tirelessly for the benefit and joy and happiness of all beings, especially the followers of the Yungdrung Bön.  They are like parents who cherish the faithful like their very own children.

Therefore the Gratitude Tenshug Organizing Committee, which includes main advisors, administrators and members, formed one year ago and began to meet and discuss a way that the worldwide sangha could express their gratitude for these two great masters.  On behalf of all Bön practitioners, we presented our idea to both His Holiness Menri Tridzin Rinpoche and to His Eminence Yongdzin Lopon Rinpoche.  Graciously, His Holiness and His Eminence kindly accepted our request and gave us permission to move forward and begin to make plans and preparations for this special occasion.

For this Gratitude Long Life Mandala offering, we have ordered the construction of a large gold plated statue of Nyammé Sherap Gyaltsen for His Holiness Menri Tridzin Rinpoche, 1 large gold plated statue of Lachen Drenpa Namkha for His Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche, 2 large gold plated statues of Sherap Mawa’i Senge, 2 large gold plated stupas, 2 gold plated sets of the Eight Auspicious symbols, 2 gold plated mandala sets, 2 gold plated Yungdrung Bön chakshing-the hand object of Buddha Tönpa Shenrap, 2 gold plated monks bowls, 2 complete sets of brand new monk clothing, and 2 sets of the complete Kangyur including new covers.

In support of these two special events, we welcome donations from individuals or on behalf of Yungdrung Bön centers or practice groups.   For those who are unable to physically attend the Long Life Mandala Offering ceremonies in India or Nepal, making a donation is a way to participate in these special ceremonies and to receive the merit and blessings of the occasion.

For any of your members that contribute a tax deductible donation of any amount, we kindly ask that you provide them with a copy of the receipt we will later send you, and forward the donations directly to the Gratitude Tenshug Organizing Committee.  Donations can be forwarded either through Western Union or bank transfer.  Please do not make donations through private individuals.  For more information about where to send donations, please contact: yungdrungBöntenzhug2016@gmail.com.

The Gratitude Tenshug Organizing Committee would like to thank all of the worldwide Yungdrung Bön centers and practice groups for their help and support.
